Wild Assam

Day 01: Onboard / Dibrugarh - Neamati

Arrive at Dibrugarh Airport and transfer to Neamati (4 hour drive), where we will be welcomed onboard. Checkin and installation on cruise ship. After check in and guest safety briefing, enjoy free day. Night on board.

Day 02: Neamati - Sibsagar - Majuli

Start Cruise for Sibsagar, the ancient city of the Ahom Kings. The town, which literally means ‘the ocean of Lord Shiva,’ is strewn with the tell-tale ruins of a powerful empire, the Ahom. Sibsagar was the capital of the Thai-speaking Ahom who came to the area from Yunnan, China, in the 13th Century AD.
The town is built round the Sibsagar tank, dug over 200 years ago. The tank is above town level although situated in the heart of the town. On its banks are located some of the famous temples of Sibsagar. The Shiva Temple, constructed in the year 1734, is believed to be the highest Hindu temple in India.Back onboard cruise ship for lunch and cruise to Majuli. we visit Samagudi Satra and enjoy the masked dance. Return to cruise ship. Dinner & Night onboard.

Day 03: Majuli - Vishwanath Ghat

Majuli is the treasure house of Assamese culture; ancient monasteries dedicated to preservation of the arts have existed here since the 15th Century. Records are found of the visit of Shankardeva, a social reformer, during the 16thCentury. He promulgated a form of Hinduism that was also called Vaishnavism. He established monasteries or hermitages that were called Satra. These Satras became the hub of culture, art, religion and lifestyle. Even today, the Satra preserve antiques like weapons, utensils, jewellery and other articles of cultural importance.
After breakfast, we will drive to the Kamalabari satra to explore the satra and experience young monks perform of Matia Khora. Back to cruise ship. during lunch time we cruise.Later enjoy a cooking demonstration onboard followed by a bonfire at an isolated island. Dinner and Night on board.

Day 04: Vishwanath Ghat

Cruise towards vishwanath. Enroute visit Mishing Village. After lunch, country boat safari. In the evening, arrive Vishwanath ghat. Enjoy a Local dance performance followed by dinner. Night on aboard.

Day 05: Vishwanath Ghat / Silghat - Guwahati

After breakfast, take the smaller boats to visit charming villages. We watch everyday life of villagers and the women weaving cotton and silk in almost all the households here. Return to cruise ship for lunch. Disembark at Silghat and drive to Guwahati Airport for next destination.

Note: The best time to visit Assam is from October to April. This is also the festive season of Assam.

During the peak winter season of mid-December to mid-February, the itinerary will be adjusted according to daylight hours as the Cruise Ship does not cruise during darkness. In order to provide for full coverage of the Kaziranga National Park during these winter months, we will not visit Vishwanath Ghat.
